Hertha’s fireman (who saved the Berliners from relegation in the relegation) looks back on his time in Berlin with mixed feelings.
Two and a half years ago, SPORT BILD revealed Jürgen Klinsmann’s (56) secret diaries, in which the former Hertha coach settled accounts with the club after his escape.
Now “Klinsi” gets approval – of all things from another ex-Hertha coach.
Felix Magath (69), who saved the Berliners from relegation last season, says in the current issue of SPORT BILD about the diaries: “I’ve read excerpts. As far as the state of the club is concerned, I experienced it in a similar way.
In the paper, Klinsmann had made serious allegations against the club management around ex-manager Michael Preetz (55) and ex-president Werner Gegenbauer (72), wrote of a lack of “performance culture” and of “ownership thinking”.

Magath says today: “The club wasn’t stable, there was a lot of uncertainty, there was hardly any cooperation.” And he agrees with Klinsmann in parts of his analysis.
