AZ is paired with Feyenoord or PSV in the draw for the quarter-finals of the KNVB Cup. The Alkmaarders are the only North Holland club left. Feyenoord and PSV will only meet on Wednesday, due to the postponement of PSV – FC Twente.
AFC and AZ were the only North Holland clubs left in the eighth finals. The Alkmaarders defeated second division team Quick Boys (4-2) after penalties. The dismal match led to the dismissal of Pascal Jansen. Assistant coach Maarten Martens was then put forward as his successor.
Second division team AFC went to Arnhem in good spirits for the confrontation with Vitesse. However, they came home from a rude awakening, as a goal from Davy Pröpper was enough (1-0) for Vitesse.
The quarter-finals are scheduled for February 6, 7 and 8. Feyenoord – PSV was postponed after the match between PSV – FC Twente could not take place. Ajax executioner Hercules still has to catch up against SC Cambuur. That game was canceled due to snowfall earlier this week.
Full draw:
NEC – ADO The Hague
FC Groningen – Fortuna Sittard
Hercules/Cambuur – Vitesse
PSV/Feyenoord – AZ
