The title curse finished: Tottenham wins the Europa League

The final started in errors, but Tottenham and United did not know how to use their chances. An own goal decided the later winner.
Tottenham Hotspur won the English final and voted the winner of the Europa League. The team of coach Verzecoglou defeated Manchester United 1-0 (1-0) in the San Mamés Stadium of Bilbao. For the “Spurs” it is the first title win on European stage since 1984.
Tottenhams Brennan Johnson decisively disturbed after a cross in the United penalty room, so that Luke Shaw’s ball was deflected into his own goal (42nd minute).
Due to the final triumph, the team of coach Postecoglou also solved the ticket for the next Champions League season despite 17th place in the league. This rinses more than 100 million euros into the club’s coffers. It was the highlight in an eventless first half. Previously, only United had a good opportunity with Amad Diallo from a half -right position, but the ball stroked just next to the goal (16th). The man from the Ivory Coast brought some surprise moments with his pace dribbling.
On the other hand, the coach Postecoglou, who was also criticized, allowed himself to luxury to leave his captain Heung-Min Son on the bench until the 67th minute. Son had formed a congenial duo at Tottenham with Bavaria’s Harry Kane, who was with afared one. When the former Hamburg came into play, United had already significantly increased the pressure.
