Once a record purchase
Like the English “TheTimesAs reported, Tottenham Hotspur have accepted an offer for Spartak Moscow centre-back Davinson Sánchez. For what was once the most expensive purchase in the club’s history, which is still in the top 5 in this ranking, the Russian club wants to put around 15 million euros on the table – a sum that the Premier League club has only surpassed once on the transfer market. The confirmation of the player is still pending.
Sánchez’ contract at White Hart Lane is dated until 2024, and Real Betis, Sevilla FC and Galatasaray were also recently considered interested in the services of the 27-year-old Colombian – according to information from the newspaper, however, no club made a similarly high offer for the 54-time national player as Spartak.
Sánchez moved from Ajax Amsterdam to London in 2017 for a fee of 42 million euros. In the next two and a half years, in which he was still part of the defensive center at Spurs, the right-footed player increased his market value at the time of 25 million euros to a career high of 60 million euros. As a result, however, things went downhill for Sánchez, both in terms of rating and sportingly – in the past season the 1.87 meter man was only used sporadically.
Tosin Adarabioyo from city rivals Fulham, who also has a contract with the “Cottagers” until 2024, was recently speculated as a possible backup if the Colombian were sold.
