They are the new high-tech vehicles of the Brandenburg fire brigade, purchased to bring water and equipment to areas that are difficult to access. But this car didn’t even make it to his new fire station in Müncheberg (Märkisch-Oderland district)
It would only have taken a few hours until the new Tatra tank fire engine was in its new station and ready for use. But things turned out differently!
On the way from Ždírec nad Doubravou in the Czech Republic to Müncheberg, the three-man crew with the new vehicle had an accident.
As the Czech police announced, the vehicle left the road for reasons that are still unknown and crashed into an avenue tree.
The occupants, three comrades from the fire brigade, were injured, some of them seriously. The fire department had to extricate their own people from the vehicle and take them to a hospital.
The vehicle, which was only a few days old, was totaled before it could even go into service. This is a heavy blow for the firefighters in Müncheberg, because the vehicle is one of 35 fire fighting vehicles financed by the state of Brandenburg.
It is still unclear when a replacement can be obtained.
