Fashion is unlimited freedom. With this message, the luxury brand Prada is sending women into the spring/summer 2023 season. In the collection presented on Thursday afternoon on the occasion of the Milan Fashion Week, which runs until Monday, apparent opposites mix effortlessly, such as the rough and the delicate.
The leather blouson merges with an evening coat, the slits of elegant dresses appear to be torn open, elements of house clothes are worn on the street – Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons designed their demonstration with such ideas.
Again and again, the two creative directors of the Milan trend label resorted to gossamer fabrics that seemed to float over the catwalk. According to the press release, one of the materials used for a clothing line was based on paper. This sophistication was then mixed with an element that could hardly be more contrasting: a simple jumpsuit with a shirt collar. The contrasts also harmonize in the color image – the purism of neutral tones with excursions into the colorful and with attached three-dimensional flowers.
Max Mara, on the other hand, draws attention to the stomach – which remains uncovered when short knitted tops and trousers with extremely wide legs meet. The Italian label has its origins in coats, the models for the coming spring-summer season are made of light cashmere and come in sun-bleached colours. Otherwise, neutral tones dominate. Hats with voluminous brims accentuate the summer dresses.
In the coming days, there will be other top-class Italian fashion items on the Milan Fashion Week programme. Versace, Gucci and Giorgio Armani, among others, will present their latest women’s collections. (dpa)
