Torra says that ERC, Junts and CUP do not have Catalonia’s independence as “objective”

  • The ‘ex-president’ charges against the linguistic pact and says that he would have ordered disobeying the ruling of the TSJC on Spanish in the classrooms

The ‘ex-president’ of the Generalitat Quim Torra has attacked the independence parties –ERC, Together and CUP– understanding that “its objective is not independence”: “It is a relay race that is interrupted. There is a cut that all the parties have accepted,” he lamented.

In an interview on TV-3, Torra has criticized the text agreed by PSC, ERC, Junts and ‘comuns’ on the linguistic model of the Catalan school -from which Junts later dropped-, because it does not “represent” him, and he has assured that if he were still ‘president’ would have ordered the directors of educational centers failing to comply with the ruling on 25% of classes in Spanish. “I would almost prefer that they say that we have to abide by the sentence, maybe we would win,” she said.

In this sense, he has slipped that politicians “are voted for to comply with what they say” and that “if you have put in the program that the immersion is not touched and that it is shielded, the consequences must be assumed. Do you Can they disable for that? Well, yes. We will accept everything, “he added.

Torra has assured that during this legislature in the independence movement there have been “setbacks that we cannot afford”, while at the same time he has criticized the dialogue table with the Government for having “no reason for being or any objective”.

For this reason, he has urged the current ‘president’ Pere Aragones to “reflect on what political path the legislature has”, because “when there are these discrepancies in everything, this profound reflection must be made”.

“What the citizens are asking for is that with 52% (of independence votes in the last elections) they do the favor of making a shared proposal to move towards independence,” he assured.

Likewise, he has said that he would like to see the former president of Òmnium as presidents of the Generalitat Jordi Cuixart or to the ‘exconsellera’ and current MEP Clara Ponsati.
