Torn cruciate ligament! Injury shock at FC Bayern

In the Bayern youth team, high hopes rest on keeper Benjamin Ballis. Now, however, the 18-year-old has been seriously injured, and the 2023 football year is over for him.

As the German record champions announced on their homepage, Ballis tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during training last week.

The young goalkeeper has already undergone a successful operation at Munich Orthopedic Surgery and now has to take a “compulsory break of several months”.

“We wish Benny a speedy recovery and a lot of strength for the coming months. We will support him with all our means on the way to his comeback,” Halil Altintop, sporting director of the FC Bayern Campus, was quoted as saying.

In the current regional league season, the teenager has been in charge of FC Bayern’s second deputy three times.

FC Bayern: Benjamin Ballis still euphoric in the spring

Bitter: Ballis’ working paper at FC Bayern was only extended to summer 2026 in February.

“Benny has become a real support for our A-Juniors this season. We see further development potential in him, so we are very pleased that he will continue to be in goal for our teams in the next few years,” enthused junior boss Jochen Sauer at the time .

The U18 national keeper moved to the Isar from FC Augsburg’s junior division in 2015 and has played in all age groups since then.

“I am convinced that I have the best conditions for my next steps here at FC Bayern. I would like to thank those responsible for their trust and look forward to the next few years in the Bayern jersey,” said Ballis in the spring.

Now, however, the goalkeeper will have to be patient while his team rival Tom Hülsmann promotes himself. Ballis is unlikely to return to the training ground before 2024.
