The excitement of the World Superbike Championship (WSBK) and World Supersport Championship (WSSP), one of the most prestigious races in the world in motor sports, will start tomorrow in Australia.
In the organization where national motorcyclist Toprak Razgatlıoğlu is one of the biggest candidates for the championship in WSBK and Can Öncü and Bahattin Sofuoğlu are among the biggest candidates for the championship in WSSP, the season will start with the races at the Australian Philip Island Circuit on 24-25 February.
The race will be 20 laps in the WorldSBK class and 18 laps in the WorldSSP class.
The 2024 season of the World Superbike Championship and World Supersport Championship will start tomorrow with the first races to be held at the Philip Island Circuit in Australia. There will be 12 stages and 32 races in total in the championship.
TOPRAK’S NEW TEAM “BMW”
2021 season World Champion Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, who joined the BMW team this year, will work hard to become the top owner “again” in the World Superbike Championship.
Toprak, who started his WorldSBK career in 2018 and is the only Turk to win a single championship in the history of the organization, which has been held since 1988, saw 115 podiums in 192 races.
Toprak, who won 39 races and broke 33 tour records, became the world champion in this class for the first time in 2021, and ranked second in the world in 2022 and 2023.
CAN ÖNCÜ WILL MAKE HIS 77TH START
National motorcyclist Can Öncü will make the 77th start of his career at the Philip Island Circuit.
Öncü, who holds the title of the Turkish athlete who competed in the most races in the World Supersport Championship after Kenan Sofuoğlu, appeared on the award podium at the end of 14 of 76 races.
Öncü, who managed to be on the top step of the podium once, has 2 second places and 11 third places.
The record of the athlete who won the most championships in the World Supersport Championship is held by Kenan Sofuoğlu, with 5 first places.
Bahattin Sofuoğlu, who will compete in the organization, competed in 41 races in 2022 and 2023. The young athlete saw 4 podiums in these races, taking first place in one and third place in 3 of them.
