Soon the biggest sporting event of the year will break loose. We are of course talking about the Winter Olympics, which start on February 4. Did you know that two Zoetermeer residents also travel to Beijing for this?
Yara van Kerkhof
Yara van Kerkhof is 31 years old and born in Zoetermeer. She has won a lot of medals in her career as a short track speed skater, including two Olympic medals. We can see Yara in action on Wednesday 9 February at 12:00, where she competes with four teammates for their position in the women’s relay.

Michelle Dekker
Michelle Dekker is 25 years old and she was born in Zoetermeer. She is a snowboard star and competes in the parallel giant slalom. At the age of 17 she made her debut at the Winter Games in Sochi (2014). She was there again four years later in PyeongChang. And this year in Beijing! We can see her on television on Tuesday 7 February. You have to get up early because the qualifications start at 03:40. During the day we can follow her during the eighth, quarter, semi and full finals.
