Marit Huiberts will play again with the handball women of Volendam. The goalkeeper left the Eredivisionist two years ago for an adventure at the Danish Ringkobing Handbold, but now returns. Last week goalkeeper Femke Reus was also recorded for next season.
“After Volendam I went to Denmark for two years and I played handball there for two seasons at the highest level,” says Huiberts on the website of HV Volendam. “I noticed that this was not the right place for me and wanted to go back to the Netherlands. Handball close to home, get the fun back and finish my studies.”
Competitive battle
The 22-year-old goalkeeper will compete in the fishing village have to deal with Femke Reus, which comes from SEW. Volendam coach Zsigmond Makay expects a healthy competition between the two goalkeepers. “With Marit Huiberts, Volendam has brought in a real top keeper. Together with Femke Reus, she will form the foundation of the team, where they will complement each other well and ensure healthy competition, team spirit and mutual cooperation.”
Huiberts is already the fourth reinforcement for Volendam. In addition to Huiberts and Reus, Joya Vlaming and Isa Vet are also captured.
