Czech footballer Patrik Schick has extended his contract with Bayern Leverkusen for two years. The 26-year-old attacker, who has scored 24 goals in 27 league matches in the Bundesliga this season, is now with the German club until the summer of 2027.
Mainly thanks to Schick’s goals, Leverkusen finished in third place, good for a ticket for the Champions League. Only Robert Lewandowski has scored more in the Bundesliga this season. The Polish striker of champions Bayern Munich scored no fewer than 35 goals.
“A lot is possible with Leverkusen, that’s why I extended my contract,” said teammate of the Dutchmen Mitchel Bakker, Daley Sinkgraven, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Jeremie Frimpong. Leverkusen took over Schick from AS Roma two years ago. He previously played for Sampdoria and RB Leipzig, among others.
At last year’s European Championship, the Czech scored five goals, making him the top scorer of the tournament along with Cristiano Ronaldo. Schick scored in the group stage against Scotland with a shot from just over the halfway line. That goal was voted the best goal of the European Championship. Schick was also accurate in the 2-0 win against the Dutch national team in the eighth finals and in the quarter-finals against Denmark, where the Czech Republic lost 2-1.
