Leipzig also wants to fight for the championship title in the coming season. In order to achieve the goal, the boss personally advocates for a personality.
RB Leipzig is about to extend the contract with top scorer Christopher Nkunku. As several media reports unanimously, the Frenchman could prematurely extend his contract, which runs until 2024, by a year to 2025. A basic agreement has already been reached and only the final details are still at stake.
With the new contract, Nkunku’s salary is apparently to be increased significantly, according to “Kicker” and “Bild” there will be an exit clause of over 60 million euros from summer 2023. Managing director Oliver Mintzlaff had already publicly guaranteed the offensive player’s whereabouts for the coming season in the past few weeks.
Minztlaff recently flew to London
As “Sport Bild” recently reported, Mintzlaff is said to have personally flown to London to Nkunku consultant Pini Zahavi to emphatically reaffirm that he still wants the player at RB Leipzig. A clear signal to clubs that had already announced their interest in the offensive player.
Among other things, there were rumors of interest from youth club Paris St. Germain and Manchester United. Nkunku switched from PSG to the Saxons in 2019. Last season he was one of the key players in winning the DFB Cup and entering the Champions League, scoring 35 goals and 19 assists in 50 competitive games.
