AC Milan confidently won the prestige duel with record champion Juventus – and exacerbated the crisis of the “old lady”.
Milan won on Saturday (October 8th, 2022) deservedly 2-0 (1-0) and initially drew level with leaders SSC Napoli and pursuer Atalanta Bergamo on points, but they were able to pull away again on Sunday.
Juve, who conceded goals from Fikayo Tomori (45+1) and Brahim Diaz (54), are only in the middle of the table with 13 points. The former series champion, in which ex-Frankfurt Filip Kostic remained ineffective, only won three of his nine season games in Serie A.
Massimiliano Allegri’s team could have lost even worse: Milan’s Portuguese attacking star Rafael Leao failed twice at the post (21/35). It was only in the closing stages that Juve had more play and had chances.
Inter can celebrate again
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich’s Champions League group opponents Inter Milan have made a small step forward. The 19-time champion won 2-1 (1-0) at Sassuolo Calcio and celebrated a win in the domestic league after two consecutive defeats.
Inter, where national player Robin Gosens was not used, is still outside the European Cup places with 15 points. Former Bundesliga top scorer Edin Dzeko scored twice for the Nerazzurri (44th/75th), Italian international Davide Frattesi equalized after an hour for Sassuolo.
