Tooske Ragas has to laugh a little at Martijn Krabbé’s plan to trade in his TV career so that he can ‘start playing pictures’. “I think this is a bit of a midlife thing.”
Martijn Krabbé made it to the show media with some statements he made last night in the celebrity interview show Isola Di Beau by presenter Beau van Erven Dorens. “I’ve been thinking about it this week: what am I going to do with my life? It is clear that I am going to do something different,” he says.

The presenter claims to have lost interest in television. “Yes, I want to do something different and I thought: what should I do? And I still end up with the same thing every time and that is just playing pictures. With a dance floor. With all people standing with their hands in the air.”
Oh God, Martijn is already infected with the Erland virus. “If you just have people in front of you who are having a good time and standing like that, you can’t make me happier. That’s how I started.”
When does he want to leave RTL? “I think about three years or so. I think this is my last contract.”
Remarkable
Private boss Evert Santegoeds finds this remarkable statements by Martijn, he says in Shownieuws. “It is remarkable, yes. It is from 1968, so he is 54 and in three years he will be 57. I think it is a bit too philosophical. I honestly don’t think it will happen.”
“But the fact that you occasionally think, especially at that age, of: is this it and can’t I do something that I really like, namely playing records, then that is very tempting. On the other hand: by then RTL will of course be back with a contract, because he is one of the best presenters in the Netherlands.
Scribbles back
Martijn himself is already backing down a bit, says Evert. “I think he will come back to it a little bit. We spoke to Martijn tonight and then he already said: well, it was a bit philosophical and just thinking: what do you want with your life?
He concludes: “He would have preferred to end his career with The Voice, but he does not see that happening anymore after everything that has happened.”
Midlife crisis
Tooske Ragas thinks that Martijn is currently suffering from a typical male ailment, namely a midlife crisis. She has to laugh about it. “I think that’s a bit of a midlife thing or something, all those guys who suddenly want to play records.”
