Toon built his own dream, but sold it after just one month

Working in nature from a self-built office on wheels. It was the dream come true for Toon Iding (44) from Vught. But less than a month later he sold his work cabin again. “The passion was suddenly gone. I had already fulfilled my dream of working from my tiny office.”, Toon Toon looks back.

After months of odd jobs, the Vughtenaar stood with his self-built one for the whole month of May tiny office on an ecological campsite in Den Bosch. His dream to work in nature came true.

“I earn my living by redeveloping existing buildings and making them more sustainable. That is why I am always looking for new solutions. I have found that working in nature stimulates my creativity,” he says.

“And working in nature is really relaxing and takes away a bit of work stress. I came home happy after a day’s work.”

“I stopped looking at my office.”

But after barely a month of working in his own creation, Toon suddenly suffered from nerve pain and fatigue. A period of uncertainty began for the Vughtenaar. “Because I’m always in nature a lot, I was bitten by a tick. But not while working,” he assures. “It later turned out that I have Lyme disease because of this.”

The 44-year-old Toon was temporarily unable to work due to the illness. His office on wheels was then in the parking lot behind his house. “I saw it every day from my living room, but otherwise I didn’t look back at it.”

“The passion was suddenly gone.”

The development manager slowly recovered from medication and was then able to return to work. Instead of driving his office to nature, Toon decided to sell his work cabin. “The passion was suddenly gone. My dream to work from my tiny office I had already fulfilled.”

Imke van Dillen, founder of Stichting Orphanhuisjes in Den Bosch, has now bought the office on wheels from Toon. She will use the office for employees of companies and freelancers who enjoy working in nature. Toon: “I’m happy with that, because I wish everyone such an adventure.”
