Tool theft again: Lisserbroek gardener now duped after burglary in business premises

Once again a Haarlemmermeer entrepreneur has been duped by a brutal robbery. Earlier this week, thieves took the company car and trailer of a Lisserbroek gardener. The van and trailer have now been recovered, but the valuable tools are still missing.

The thieves struck his company on Turfspoor on the night of Wednesday to Thursday. They forced open the entrance gate, smashed a window and entered his business premises.

Ultimately, the suspects – camera images seen by NH show that they were two men – fled with a company van loaded with tools, which also had a trailer hanging behind it.

Bus and trailer back

The company bus and trailer have now been recovered, but the tools are still missing, anonymous sources around the gardener told NH by telephone. They suspect that the tools have now crossed the border and will therefore not be found quickly.

The police confirm that a burglary has been reported and that the company bus and trailer, unlike the tools, have now been recovered. In a message via Burgernet, witnesses are called on to come forward.

Tools

Thieves often target tools. This became apparent last month, when the company bus of the Vennepse carpenter Dennis and that of his client became plundered. The loot consists of tools with a total value of approximately 20,000 euros, for which Dennis is not insured.

A striking similarity between the robbers is the apparently moderate interest in the company bus. The thieves in Lisserbroek seem to have mainly used the bus as a means of transport for their actual loot, the tools.

The thieves in Nieuw-Vennep tried to get Dennis’ bus running, but were unable to do so thanks to the steering lock. They then parked it against a lamppost at the end of the street. “And there they emptied it.”

André Bouwman, from the National Vehicle Crime Intelligence and Expertise Center (LIV), advises entrepreneurs to register tools so that thieves can more difficultly resell them. “Make sure there is an alarm system with noise, that will deter criminals.”
