Tool are known for their passionate supporters: at their first own festival on the weekend of March 7 in the Dominican Republic, they obviously put their fans’ willingness to suffer. What happened? They had announced that they play a total of two concerts with “special setlists” in the course of the multi -day event with the title Tool in the Sand Festival and appearances by Primus, Coheed and Cambria and Mastodon. But then the setlists did not differ as much as expected and Maynard James Keenan and band also delivered 30 minutes less on the second day than the day before. After there were shouting calls, it could come even thicker below-a tool may face a class action.
“There was a feeling of betrayal in the air”
Stas Rusek, one of those present at the event, is the lawyer and believed that the audience would be entitled to compensation. In a statement that was scattered via “Metal Hammer”, he also asks disappointed concert goers: to join his planned class action.
Specifically, Rusek says: “The possible lawsuit against the organizers of Tool in the Sand is indeed examined. We have received many inquiries from tool fans who visited the festival, a category that I personally fall into. It was my 27th and 28th tool shows. There was a feeling of betrayal in the air when the show started on the second evening, and that lasted the rest of the weekend. ”
And further: “It boils down to the fact that the buyers of the festival package ‘two unique sets’ were promised by tool. While you argue in the comments about what ‘unique’ means, the reality is that the opportunity to see tool two unique sets, i.e. no repetitions, for most visitors was the decisive factor to press the withdrawal and spend thousands of dollars for participation.
The lawyer from Georgia adds: “Most tool fans, like me, have already visited several shows on the same tour and know that the most songs are repeated due to the spectacular and complex nature of their show. However, this is not what the festival visitors were promised. “
What happened
Another understanding: Friday (March 7th) made many fans happy. There were ten songs to be heard, including classics from every single studio album. But on Saturday (March 8th) several pieces were played again (“Fear Inoculum”, “Jambi”, “Pneuma” and “Rosetta Stoned”). In addition, the set was shortened by half an hour. That made the crowd glow.
Videos of the concert, which then went viral, prove countless boo calls during the gig. The anger has now been transferred to the net, where surprisingly clearly pulls through the tool. “How did it feel to be booed and whistled at your own festival,” wrote a user cynical on Instagram. “When did the boos started? Was it when you heard the first song played again, did another song from evening 1 decrease and then strengthened when the songs that were decayed again 2, 3 & 4 started? Or at the end of the show? I ask for a friend, ”said another.

Tool itself has not yet commented on the live slat and the possible class action.
