“It’s no longer possible”: With these words Benjamin Hübner, captain of TSG Hoffenheim, ends his career as a footballer.

The 33-year-old Hübner has to give up his football boots after a series of serious and persistent injuries. Most recently, an ankle injury put the central defender out of action for months.

Since mid-2020, Hübner has only appeared in seven competitive games for the Kraichgauer. Overall, he completed 122 Bundesliga games.

Rosen wants to involve Hübner at TSG

Alexander Rosen underlines how difficult the loss is for TSG. “Benni was not only an exemplary fighter and a strong character on the field, but also always an important and clear contact person for me when it came to team matters. He is a great personality that we will miss on the pitch, but there have already been initial concrete talks as to how we can integrate him into our team after he leaves the game,” said the director of professional football.
