On September 10, 2022, Nouredine B. (31) from Kortrijk and his friend returned home after a visit to bar De Chalet in Meulebeke. On the way back they took ‘Chocolat’, a woman they had scrounged up at the bar, into the car. Perhaps B. was still interested in what would follow with ‘Chocolat’. However, he saw those plans fall apart when the woman fell asleep on the way. He accused his friend of having created too little ambiance in the car so that she could fall asleep. The discussion escalated to such an extent that he stopped along the highway in Kortrijk and beat and kicked his friend in the face. The victim was eventually able to flee via the highway verge. “It happened under the influence of alcohol,” B. apologized to the judge. “The victim has actually been a friend for 7 years. He’s not so angry anymore.” Today B. is in jail. Sentence on January 11.
