The KNMI has issued code yellow for Sunday evening due to severe thunderstorms. They migrate across the country from the southwest. There can also be heavy hail and wind gusts of up to 75 kilometers per hour are possible. But after rain comes sunshine: next week it will look like spring with temperatures of around 20 degrees.
“We still have a kind of false start on Monday,” explains Raymond Klaassen of Weerplaza. “Then there will be some showers over the province, but we will already get temperatures between 15 and 16 degrees.”
Normally at this time of year it is about 13 to 14 degrees, but we will be well over that next week. From Wednesday the temperature will gradually rise and it will be between 18 and 22 degrees. “Due to a southerly wind, in combination with a lot of sun, the temperature can rise considerably in the coming week.” Klaassen expects the nice weather to last for about four days.
Beautiful October
“It is not unprecedented for the month of October that we see temperatures above 20 degrees,” says Klaassen. “In 2005 and 2006 we also had temperatures that even approached 25 degrees.”
Whether the weather will be as warm as in 2005 or 2006? “There is a small chance that weather records will be broken this week, don’t count on it too much, but the chance is there,” says Klaassen.
