In a league game at the weekend, Toni Kroos saw the yellow card for an alleged foul. The international complained about this whistle. Now he spoke up again.
Toni Kroos has once again commented on his loud criticism of the referee. Kroos saw a yellow card in the 78th minute in the cup game with Real Madrid against FC Elche for an alleged foul on opponent Tete Morente. However, Kroos did not touch Morente. He shared a video of the scene on Twitter and wrote: “Yellow card. Of course.”
Kroos thinks of the role model
The 2014 world champion now commented on the events in more detail on his LinkedIn profile: “When things get emotional, it’s sometimes difficult to stay calm. You may have seen the scene when I saw a yellow card that I didn’t totally agreed. It’s okay to argue with referees or other players if you don’t agree with a decision.”
The 32-year-old now also showed remorse: “Nevertheless, it’s important to act respectfully on the pitch, especially to be a good role model for our children. Sometimes it’s not easy with all the emotions on the pitch. Yes both I and everyone else should remember who’s watching.”
Kroos this time without a yellow card
On Sunday, Real’s Kroos faced Elche and Tete Morente again in the league. Kroos was back on the pitch but this time without a yellow card. There was one disappointment though: The game ended 2:2. Real was only able to extend the lead over pursuers FC Sevilla to four points. The title race in Spain remains exciting. And with Anthony Martial, Sevilla signed a real top star on Tuesday.
