Former world champion Toni Kroos wants to start a joint football project together with influencer and Twitch streamer Elias Nerlich from the summer of 2024.
The so-called “The Icon League” with well-known names from the football scene, the entertainment sector and the music industry is intended to attract fans who are interested in a different football format, it said in a statement on Monday evening.
Kroos, who also runs a podcast with his brother Felix, predicts “a faster, more varied, more action-packed, more eventful game in which there can suddenly be unforeseen turns” as well as “a football with more goals and entertainment”. What the format looks like is not yet known.
Kroos is under contract with Real Madrid until 2024, and the 2014 world champion is already in his tenth season for Los Blancos. Nerlich founded his own football club Delay Sports in 2022 and achieved promotion to the district league B in the premiere season, where the club once again took first place.
