According to Evilä, the candidacy is waiting for the position of the district board. The matter will be resolved at the beginning of October.

– Discussions have taken place in one direction and another. Enthusiasm has been noticeable. Now it seems that we are moving forward to the level of the kingdom. That’s a strong direction.

Evilä was elected to the Tampere city council in the municipal elections last year. In addition to being a member of the council, he is also a member of the education and culture committee.

Politics has absorbed the ex-athlete.

– I have been able to watch the hustle and bustle for about a year. It has been really great and interesting.

– The board has done a very good job. I appreciate that even though there are people from many different backgrounds and parties, we are able to move towards a common goal as a group. At first I thought, how will this settle down and move forward.

Evilä is no stranger to positions of responsibility, as she was already in the athlete commission of the International Athletics Federation and the federal council of the Finnish Sports Federation during her career.

The ex-long jumper sees politics as a natural continuation of other positions of trust. However, he cannot say where the fire started.

– Certain values and acting according to them have been taught at home. Acting according to them has driven in a controlled manner to places and roles where influencing and taking responsibility are needed.

– Everyone certainly has a desire to influence their own everyday life and make other people’s everyday life better. There is a forum for everyone.

– The balls are commendably in the air. Fortunately, I have an extremely good family and close circle that make things possible. We have to make things possible for them too, so that we can realize our own wishes.

– We do all kinds of things with the family. Basic everyday life.

Evilä started as the head of coaching for SUL’s Tampere region in 2016. He was renovating the coaching system.

Athletics returned to success this summer, when Finland took four medals from the European Championships in Munich. It warms Evila.

– It feels really good. Athletes and coaches have done a long day’s work. For them this swamp.

– Now let’s pull the zipper up to the chin to move forward towards even better performances. No more floating around.
