Tom Ongena has been elected the new chairman of Open Vld with 59 percent of the votes. Ongena will now become chairman until the municipal elections of October 2024. Flemish MP Els Ampe also announced today that she is leaving the party. The, according to her, undemocratic way in which the party organized the presidential elections was the proverbial last straw for the 44-year-old politician.
