Tom Egberink is world champion with team for the second year in a row

Tom Egberink from Dalen has become world champion with the Dutch wheelchair tennis team. Spain was defeated 2-0 in the final.

It is the second year in a row that Egberink is world champion with the Netherlands. By the way, Spain was also defeated 2-0 in the final last year.

The final consists of two singles and, if necessary, a doubles match. Ruben Spaargaren won the first match against the Netherlands, after which Egberink won his single match 6-1 and 6-3 against Martin de la Puente. So a double play was no longer necessary.

Egberink was fit just in time for the tournament. A week before the start of the tournament, he still had corona.

The Dutch ladies lost their final against Japan yesterday. Jiske Griffioen and Aniek van Koot lost 2-0.
