‘Together with Sander’ to the elections

Sander Loones wants to become mayor in Koksijde. The N-VA of Koksijde is therefore going to the municipal elections under the name ‘Together with Sander’.

Loones wants to breathe new life into the municipality. Loones believes that the standstill under mayor Marc Vanden Bussche (Open VLD) must come to an end.

Mayoralty takes precedence over national mandate

Loones will also stand for the national elections in June. He wants to remain active in Brussels to get more done for the West Coast and Koksijde. But the mayoralty takes precedence over any national mandate, even a ministerial post, says Loones.

Sander Loones is the son of Flemish Member of Parliament and senator Jan Loones. His grandfather, Honoré Loones, was mayor of Oostduinkerke. Loones is a municipal councilor in the opposition in Koksijde. In 2014 he was elected to the European Parliament, where he focused on migration and the European budget. At the beginning of November 2018, he became federal minister of Defense and Civil Service. His ministry did not last long, because a month later that government fell over the UN migration pact. In 2019, Sander Loones was elected as a federal Member of Parliament.
