Mr. Tof Thissen has been appointed chairman of the Parent Panel Childcare Allowance. He takes over this task from Mr Michiel Grauss. The selection and appointment was made in consultation with the parents from the parent panel. Mr. Thissen was general manager of the UWV work company until 1 January.

Parent panel

The parent panel is a group of 12 to 15 affected parents who are committed to helping parents who have run into problems with the childcare allowance. The parent panel is independent, the parents decide what they want to bring to the attention of the recovery organization.

“The parent panel is indispensable to us. The advice and input of the parents are necessary to ensure that the recovery process runs smoothly,” says State Secretary Aukje de Vries (Allowances and Customs). “Over the past year I have spoken to the parent panel many times and will continue to do so. I am impressed by their stories and they help me not lose sight of reality. I look forward to continuing the conversations with the parents and the collaboration with Tof Thissen.”

The parent panel thinks along and gives solicited and unsolicited advice about the approach to recovery. The parents of the parent panel live across the Netherlands and consult each other 2 to 3 times a month or more often if necessary. All opinions are public. Anyone can read them on Parent panel.
