Allegedly, the mother dropped her Polamidon tablets. This is a highly toxic heroin substitute. She picked them up, but despite all searches one pill remained missing. Could also have found and swallowed her little crawling child. Instead of seeking help, the mother took the chance and did nothing. The child was dead four hours later.
District Court, Room 504. The mother in the dock: Madeleine H. (24) from Hohenschönhausen. Camouflage pants, red-tinted hair. No job. job in a coffee shop. Their daughter Bella (not her real name) is 20 months old when she dies.
The charge is manslaughter by omission. It is said that the mother was very aware that the child was getting worse and worse. But still nothing was done to save the child.
The judges examined the files and pointed out at the beginning of the trial that a conviction for murder could also be considered if she failed to take life-saving measures to cover up a crime.
At 3 p.m., the child swallowed the pill, according to the indictment. It was dead at 7 p.m. In the hours in between, the mother even went to the doctor – but only because of herself, not because of the child. Despite the outrageous suspicion of murder, the mother has not been in custody for a day.
