Today Radio Drenthe is all about Elvis Presley!

Elvis Presley died today. Apparently, it was a heart attack.’ Exactly 45 years ago today, that message shocked the world. The King of Rock ‘n Roll was no more.

Elvis passed away at the age of 42. The singer had exhausted his body from years of drug and drug abuse. “Elvis has left the building.”

But it is a well-known saying: the king is dead, long live the king! Because Elvis’ music is still very much alive today. That is why today Radio Drenthe is dominated by Elvis Presley. We will play a lot of his hits until 6 pm. Of course you hear Heartbreak Hotel, Suspicious Minds, Jailhouse Rock and In The Ghetto pass by, but perhaps also some lesser known songs.

“Elvis is our common thread today,” says presenter René Steenbergen. “In addition to the songs, in the Op Tjak section, we visit various addresses in Drenthe where a certain Elvis link can be found. And we play a special Elvis game, where you get a double CD with his greatest hits and free tickets for the film. Elviswith Tom Hanks and Austin Butler, can win.”
