“Both rides really nice”

“That was a really great victory,” said Taubitz happily on ZDF afterwards. “In the first run I still had a few mistakes at the start, but the rides were both really nice. I have to thank the trainers who kept giving me tips on how to ride here. I’ve really had a hard time here in the past did.”

Berreiter was also proud: “I couldn’t expect anything more. I was sick in bed on Saturday for the third time this season. That was the maximum.”

Langenhan in front of two Austrians

In the men’s category, the gold medal also remained in Germany; Max Langenhan from Friedrichroda prevailed in the single-seater after an exciting sprint competition with 33.562 seconds ahead of the two Austrians Jonas Müller (+0.024 seconds) and Wolfgang Kindl (+0.033) and extended his lead in the overall World Cup.

“I made a small mistake, but in the end a bit of luck was on my side today“, said Langenhan happily. “It’s nice that I was able to give something back to the fans here in Oberhof.”

Fourth place went to Felix Loch from Berchtesgaden, who was quite clearly behind by 0.067 seconds. Timon Grancagnolo from Chemnitz secured ninth place (+0.199).

Surprise victory through Orlamünder/Gubitz

In the double-seater sprint, the up-and-coming Hannes Orlamünder and Paul Constantin Gubitz (Zella-Mehlis) achieved a bang and secured victory in 26.027 seconds ahead of Thomas Steu/Wolfgang Kindl (Austria) (+0.022 seconds), who made a big mistake in the lower part of the course and thus gave up the almost certain success.

Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt (Berchtesgaden/Schönau am Königssee, +0.096) landed in third place ahead of Juri Thomas Gatt/Riccardo Martin Schöpf (Austria, +0.109) and Moritz Jäger/Valentin Steudte (Zella-Mehlis/Suhl, +0.130)

Orlamünder was thrilled: “We’re super-mega-super happy that we’ve managed to do this.” Gubitz said: “We were finally able to take advantage of the others’ small mistakes. After a second and third place, this is a great rounding off.”
