As a three-time world champion, Michael van Gerwen has experienced many things in his darts career, but on Saturday evening he had a unique experience during the Nordic Darts Masters. The Dutchman sent Elvis Presley out of the room. Van Gerwen was used to what he accomplished later in the evening: he won the tournament.

After aiming for double 5 three times, Van Gerwen made it 3-2 on Saturday evening in the quarter-finals of the World Series tournament in Copenhagen against Viktor Tingström. Reason for satisfaction, you might say.

But the Dutch darts player immediately turned to the right side of the stage after hitting his double. There was someone dressed as Elvis Presley, including a microphone and completely dressed in a glitter suit.

Distracted by the glitter or not: Van Gerwen indicated to the caller on duty that he was bothered by the man and told him to leave there. Temporary then, because the Elvis in question was hired by main sponsor Mr. Vegas to entertain the darts fans with his singing skills.

After the signal Elvis has left the building the game was able to continue, but not before Van Gerwen indicated with hand gestures what he thought of it. Opponent Tingström, who had to start the next leg, could laugh about it.

Ultimately, Van Gerwen won the match 6-5, after which he also won the semi-final (7-4 against Jonny Clayton). In the final he then met Luke Humphries, who was responsible for the elimination of Gian van Veen earlier in the tournament.

Van Gerwen won 8-7 against Humphries, taking his second Nordic Darts Masters title and his eighteenth World Series title. A nice boost for the Dutchman, who wins £30,000, but it is of no use to the world rankings. The World Series does not count for the ranking.

Earlier this year, Van Gerwen won the World Series tournament in Bahrain. The number 4 in the world also recently won a floor tournament.
