Hard work for the German national team in the last test before the start of the World Cup against co-hosts USA: 26 degrees in Chicago, warm and humid weather, plus pouring rain at the start of the game on Saturday afternoon local time. And then the hosts also caused big problems for the DFB team: Kai Havertz’s quick lead in the second minute of the game was equalized by Antonee Robinson with a powerful shot before the break.
A strenuous game, difficult first 45 minutes – also for national coach Julian Nagelsmann. The national coach caused a stir with his choice of clothing. Because Nagelsmann changed parts of his outfit during the half-time break.
During the first 45 minutes he stood on the sidelines in a white T-shirt with black trousers and white sneakers, but in the second half the 38-year-old changed to a black T-shirt and from then on stood in all black with white sneakers. Paired this with a white baseball cap with a black, red and gold pattern.
The fashion-conscious Nagelsmann has already attracted attention in the past for his taste in fashion and his choice of wardrobe. On his debut as national coach in October 2023 – also away against the USA – he wore a lumberjack shirt in subtle, bright colors that the DFB head coach could have worn on a trip to the forests of Connecticut. But his choice was far more inconspicuous. After all: In his new outfit, Nagelsmann saw his team narrowly win 2-1 in the last test before the World Cup thanks to a goal from Leroy Sané in the 57th minute. The DFB team will start the tournament against Curaçao on June 14th.
