Southampton coach
“That’s the fixed plan and I hope that I have the strength to go through with it,” said coach Ralph Hasenhüttl in a “kicker” interview at the beginning of February about his planned departure from professional football in 2024. It’s part of his plans apparently also to stay at FC Southampton until then. Rumors of a commitment to Manchester United in the coming season only concern the former Leipzig coach to a limited extent.
“If this question arises, I will listen to my gut and say: What is the best?” Said Hasenhüttl, quoted via “Sky Sports”. “I can guarantee that I have never been wrong in the past and it has always been the right decision. There aren’t many scenarios that I can imagine walking away from here.”
Tedesco’s predecessor: RB Leipzig’s coach after scoring
“I have everything I need as a coach here. I have a fantastic team to work with, an incredibly good atmosphere at the club and everyone is behind me and supporting me,” continued Hasenhüttl. The Austrian took over at Southampton in December 2018 and since then has scored 1.36 points per game. Hasenhüttl has not stayed longer with any club. His contract ends in 2024, then he would like to stop as a professional coach – as of now.
Hasenhüttl loves it at FC Southampton – Rangnick is looking for his successor at Man United
“Me and my wife love it here. We love the people, they are so nice and friendly. Everywhere I go, even if we haven’t had good games, they’re amazing. I can’t imagine a better job,” Hasenhüttl clarified. “Other challenges are also interesting, no question. But I coach in the best league in the world, what more can you ask from a coach?”
At Man United, Ralf Rangnick took over on an interim basis until the end of the season. The 63-year-old is then to act as a consultant for two years – he also has a say in the selection of the future trainer. In addition to Hasenhüttl, Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauricio Pochettino is also associated with the “Red Devils”.
