to keep dry and chapped lips

Dry lips are an annual nuisance during the winter months. We tested 20 products to save the situation.

During the winter months, one of the most common problems is the drying of the delicate skin of the lips, as a result of which they become dull and the buttocks are suddenly quite dry and clumpy. Dry frost and face masks make the situation worse.

You still have time to change your lip balm to a caring, protective and moisturizing version. Soft lips are rocker with bags.

For those who want plush lips, there are lip glosses that increase puffiness and fullness. This is primarily aided by effective moisturizing of dry lips or special lip products that contain cooling or otherwise skin-stimulating ingredients.

The most important thing, however, is to remember to spread one several times a day. So keep them in all your handbags, on the bedside table and in the bathroom mirror cabinet.

Gentle lip peeling promotes the absorption of lip balm and is therefore worth adding to your weekly beauty ritual. Full-bodied and moisturizing lip masks, on the other hand, nourish and provide effective extra moisturizing for dry winter lips.

This is how the test was done

We tested 20 lip balms. The delivery test group consisted of six dry-lip lip balmers whose lips cracked in the frost. The test subject used the lip balms they tested for at least a week and reported how the product works and what effects it had on the lips.

Test winners

Elizabeth Arden: Eight Hour Lip Protectant Stick SPF 15. 31.50 e, Sokos.

What promises: The iconic lip balm promises to soothe while treating dry and cracked lips. The product contains vitamin E, which adds important antioxidant protection to the lips.

Here’s how:This product softens the lips and feels comfortable. Convenient to use. This product will definitely stay in your handbag.

Pros: Because lip balm contains both UVA and UVB filters, there is no need to remember to add extra sun protection factors to protect the sun from harmful radiation.

Aco: Sun Soft Lips Glossy Pink SPF 25. 8.80 e, Olo Pharmacy.

What promises: Aco lip gloss moisturizes the lips and at the same time protects from the sun. The lip balm is slightly sticky in composition, which is very close to regular lip glosses. The odorless product is pleasant to apply to the lips from a functionally shaped tube.

Here’s how: The color is very pale pink, so it doesn’t give much color to the lips, but it does give it a rich shine. The product is quite handy in its versatility.

Pros: The same package includes lip gloss, lip balm and sunscreen. For the night, I wouldn’t put this on because of the sticky texture, but in the makeup bag, this is a savior for many moments and now goes with the handbag.

Medik8: Mutiny Lip Balm. 30 e, Kicks.

What promises: Medik8 lip balm promises to leave the lips nourished and moisturized, while the product soothes and repairs the skin.

Here’s how: When applied, the vegan lip balm feels pleasant and its balm composition leaves the lips a little shiny and well-groomed.

Pros: The lemongrass scent of lip balm is fresh and pleasing to the tester, but not necessarily to everyone’s liking. The product also works on the lips like a night mask when dry lips need extra moisture. Suitable for lovers of sticky lip balms.

Dr. Ceuracles: Vegan Kombucha Tea Lip Balm. 19 e, Skincity.

What promises: The moisturizing product contains kombucha, which is promised to remove toxins, while shea butter and ceramides help balance the moisture in the lips.

Here’s how: A functional precision product for the last winter, where the lips dry even more. Slides on the lips, moisturizing and effectively softening them.

Pros: Lovely, mild scent and simple sleeve. This product remains in the handbag for standard use.

A-Derma: Lip Stick. 4.45 e, Pharmacy Plus.

What promises: The hypoallergenic product promises to soothe dry and chapped lips with Rhealba oats and natural waxes.

Here’s how: A light lip balm that relieves the tightening sensation of dry lips. It delivers on that promise.

Pros: An especially good match for a jacket pocket when outdoors in winter. New favorite!

Bioderm: Atoderm Lip Balm. 12.50 e, University’s pharmacy.

This permission: The product is also promised to be suitable for atopic people, sensitive skin and those whose lips have dried out as a result of using certain medications.

Here’s how: Pleasant, truly emollient fragrance-free lip balm also feels nourishing.

Pros: Also works as a subtle and caring lip gloss, as it leaves a beautiful surface on the lips and instantly softens cures.

Good value for money

Avène: Lip Balm with Cold Cream. 6.73 e, S-Pharmacy.

What promises: This fragrance-free lip balm is suitable for atopic people and sensitive skin. The product promises to nourish, repair and protect, and it promises to deliver on those promises.

Here’s how: The lips immediately feel less blushed.

Pros: An excellent guy for lip care when outdoors, although it felt like the product had to be added several coats before the effects. It remains a standard product in the pocket of winter, from which you can remember to add it in the cold weather outside.

La Roche-Posay: Cicaplast Lips Barrier Recovery Balm. 6.90 e, University’s pharmacy.

What promises: The promise helps to rebuild the skin of the lips by protecting and strengthening. The fragrance-free product contains caring shea butter and soothing panthenol.

Here’s how: A functional product for dry and flaky lips from winter dryness. It nourishes, soothes and moisturizes chapped lips.

Pros: Can also be applied to dry nostrils or the area around the mouth. The creamy composition may not be to everyone’s liking.

Mádara: Hydrating Lip Balm. 13.50 e, Madara.

What promises: Organic lip balm contains soothing bisabolol, sea buckthorn and blueberry seed oil. The product promises help for dry lips and daily lip care with seasonal variations. The lips should become soft, full-bodied and long-lasting.

Here’s how: The product gives softness and a pleasant feeling to the lips, but unfortunately for a relatively short time. The product should be added frequently, at least to chapped lips, and it does not really help with chills.

Pros: Organic base lip balm.

Neutrogena: Norwegian Formula SPF 20. 4.10 e, Olo Pharmacy.

What promises: The moisturizing composition of the lip balm is promised to soothe and treat dry, chapped lips.

Here’s how: Lip balm soothes and feels moisturizing dry and irritated lips.

Pros: Extra points for the sun protection factor contained in the product, which protects the thin skin of the lips in sunny weather during the winter glow. Good value for money.

Flavors

Essence: Fruit Kiss Caring Lip Balm. 1.89 e, Lyko.

What promises: Lip balm that smells deliciously coconut-like.

Here’s how: It would almost make sense to eat it like in your teens! The product feels wonderfully greasy and glides well when applied to the lips. After a couple of coats, it feels like your lips are wet and oiled properly. Pleasant to use, even if you want lip balm to moisturize your lips for longer.

Pros: Get hooked for more! The beautiful white sleeve combined with the cartoon sizes is stylish and playful. I would give a school grade of 8.5.

Lavera: SOS Help Lip Balm. 6.90 e, House of Organic.

What promises: The lip balm promises to relieve uncomfortable cracked and irritated lips. The nourishing composition contains, among other things, organic red hat and melissa extracts as well as natural oils.

Here’s how: The product does what it promises, but requires that the product be remembered to be added several times throughout the day.

Pros: The taste of peppermint cream is fresh, but not to the tester’s mind. An excellent choice for lovers of taste.

Catrice Cosmetics: Plump & Blur Lip Treatment. 4.20 e, Parfumdreams.

What promises: The product promises to puff, cool and moisturize the lips.

Here’s how: It does not make the bulge effect, it feels cool, but the product leaves a special feeling on the lips. At first the feeling on the lips is moisturized, but the cream is absorbed quickly and eventually leaves the feeling very dry. If you tend to press your lips together, the product may roll out of your lips in small pieces.

Pros: The treatment cream, packaged in a beautiful tube, smells of mint.

Labello: Caring Scrub. 3.70 e, Stockmann.

What promises: Gentle exfoliation is also good for the thin skin of the lips. Exfoliating granules mixed with this familiar lip balm feel effective when applied rough and quickly melt on the lips, after which the product acts like lip balm.

Here’s how: The product spreads easily and the feeling does not remain sticky.

Pros: This cream has a mild rosy scent. With the exception of exfoliating ingredients, lip balm is a basic good Labello. It did its job, which was to take care of chapped lips.

Budgie: Graphic Glow Holographic Hydrating Lip Oil. 12.90 e, Kicks.

What promises: The product is said to contain hyaluronic acid and the sparkle comes from a “holographic glitter” that reflects light and makes the lips shine. What these holographic glitters are remains a mystery.

Here’s how: The lip oil spreads nicely and brings a pleasant feeling and a gentle sparkle to the lips dried in winter – a bit like a caring lip gloss. Lip oil is difficult to use in that it is easily dispensed from the tube. This makes it difficult to use it with a mask, for example, so the surface remains moist and oily. Otherwise, this is comfortable to use.

Pros: The scent is delicately sweet.

Esse: Lip Conditioner. 17 e, Jolie.

What promises: The product promises to protect the lips and effectively bind moisture, while helping to preserve the skin’s natural protective wall.

Here’s how: Thick natural lip balm works well, and softens lumpy lashes. The smell, though, is relatively intense, and is sure to share opinions.

Pros: Leaves an impression that emphasizes the delicate shine and the color of the lips, which means that the product can conveniently replace everyday lipstick with this truly caring product.

Mossa: Sea Buckthorn Lip Balm. 6.90 e, House of Organic.

This permission: Functional lip balm to soften dry and chapped lips. Pleasant and caring eco-certified lip balm.

Here’s how: Pleasant lip balm for lovers of taste lip balms.

Pros: The effective nourishing and emollient effect of the product comes from sea buckthorn oil. This also makes the product a mild but sea buckthorn scent that did not particularly charm the tester.

Lip masks

Xlips: Cacao Lip Mask. 25 e, Xlash.

What promises: A soft, well-spreading lip balm that is quickly absorbed.

Here’s how: This feels really effective and caring on the lips. A multi-purpose product as this can be used on the lips as a thick mask or thinner lip balm.

Pros: Smells like coconut thanks to the coconut oil in the list of ingredients. I used this most often in the evening as a mask and the result was soft lips in the morning. Very good product!

Origins: Drink Up Nourishing Avocado Lip Butter. 19.99 e, Boozt.

What promises: The rich 2-in-1 lip balm is also a night mask for the lips.

Here’s how: The product is better suited as a night mask, as it feels quite brisk and spreads easily beyond the lips. The product really works. As promised, the lips will be wonderfully soft and supple.

Pros: The lips feel moisturized and comfortable. The composition of the organic product is 94% straight from nature and it contains, among other things, avocado and mango seed butter. Remains on the bedside table.

Garnier: SkinActive Lips Replumping 15 Min Sheet Mask. 2.90 e, Sokos.

What promises: A moisturizing vegan lip mask that moisturizes the lips provides results in the quarter.

Here’s how: The lips became smoother and more hydrated after use.

Pros: The perfect instant product when preparing for a party, which makes lipstick spread more beautifully.
