Before Kim & Cakir
Transfermarkt users have voted Galatasaray’s Kerem Aktürkoğlu Turkey’s Player of the Season 2021/22 after an outstanding season that has seen him become the third most valuable player in the Süper Lig.
The 23-year-old left winger prevailed with 31.5 percent of the votes against Min-jae Kim (25), who has just switched from Fenerbahce to SSC Napoli, and champion goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir (26) from Trabzonspor. Kim received 20.8 percent, Cakir 13.5 percent. Fener’s 17-year-old talent Arda Güler (6.7%) and Aktürkoğlu’s former team-mate Marcão (26; 4.2%), who recommended a transfer to FC Sevilla, follow in the places.
Winner Aktürkoğlu scored ten goals and collected nine assists in 2021/22, saving the record champions from even greater embarrassment. The Turkey international increased his market value from €3.5m to €16.5m last year, attracting interest from clubs such as Olympique Lyon and Borussia Dortmund.
With the title of Süper Lig Player of the Season, Aktürkoğlu follows Rachid Ghezzal (30), Alexander Sörloth (26), Sofiane Feghouli (32), Bafétimbi Gomis (37) and Talisca (28), who first claimed the trophy in 2017. So far, three winners have played for Galatasaray, two for Besiktas and one, Sörloth, for Trabzonspor.
