TM database: Georgia’s internationals complete with record player Levan Kobiashvili

…better and better!

Another milestone has been added to the transfer market statistics. All Georgia national team matches since 1990 are now available in our database. Previously, the team was part of the USSR. The former Bundesliga professional Levan Kobiashvili, who played for SC Freiburg, Schalke 04 and Hertha BSC, made the most appearances with 102. The top 10 includes another well-known face from the German top flight in Kobiashvili’s former SCF colleague Alexander Iashvili, who has 68 games to his name.

While Kobiashvili is ahead of Iashvili in terms of Georgian record players, the situation is different when it comes to top scorers. There, the current vice-president of the national association is in third place with 15 goals, Kobiashvili in fifth place with twelve goals. The ranking is led by former striker Shota Arveladze (27 goals).

The two former Bundesliga players were also on the pitch when the Georgia team, where Willy Sagnol has been coach since last year, suffered their heaviest defeat. On September 7, 2005, the European World Cup qualifier in Denmark ended 6-1. Meanwhile, the clearest victory was higher. On March 30, 1997, they beat Armenia 7-0 in an international match.
