TM database: All international matches of Sweden can be called up

…better and better!

Another milestone has been added to the transfer market statistics. All the games played by the Swedish national team can now be called up in our database. Most goals for the “Tre Kronor” were scored by Zlatan Ibrahimovic (40), who has 62 goals in 120 appearances and leads the ranking by a clear margin.

The attacker is 27 games short of drawing level with record player Anders Svensson (45), who played for the national team between 1999 and 2013. Ibrahimovic made his international comeback last year when he was included in the squad for the first time since Euro 2016. Coach Janne Andersson’s team is still hoping to take part in the World Cup in Qatar and will face the Czech Republic in the playoff semifinals on March 24th.

Sweden could reach the finals for the 13th time. The greatest success so far has been the World Cup final in 1958, which they lost 5-2 to Brazil and is also the Swedish national team’s heaviest defeat in the competition. Only in the 1908 Olympic Games against Great Britain did the Tre Kronor concede more goals in an official game when the scoreboard showed a 1:12. The Swedes also celebrated their biggest victory at the Olympic Games: in 1920 in a 9-0 win against Greece. Herbert Karlsson, then 23, scored a five-pack.
