Since 1998, the US manufacturer of Funko-POP!-Figurettes has been turning well-known musicians, film and series characters and all kinds of other celebrities into collector’s items – in the form of small toy figures with an oversized head. In the new “Vinyl Gold” series, the head is normal size, the figures are 5 inches or 12.7 centimeters tall, are made of vinyl and come from the music industry: This series includes Outkast’s Big Boi and Andre3000, the rappers Biggie Smalls and Ice Cube as well as Chilli, Left Eye and T-Boz of the R’n ‘B Formation TLC.
The three characters from this series are already sold out – but ROLLING STONE still has three packages up for grabs from the musicians of TLC: one each with Chilli, one with Left Eye and one with T-Boz. More musicians from the Vinyl Gold Collection can be found on “funkoeurope”.
TLC: Three R’n’B icons for the collection
TLC, short for T-Boz, Left Eye and Chilli, or “Tender Loving Care,” was an Atlanta-based American R&B and hip-hop trio. It was founded in 1991 under the name “2nd Nature” by Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Crystal Jones.
In 2013, TLC caused a surprise when they performed their hit song “Waterfalls” at the American Music Awards, then eleven years after the death of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. The part of the deceased rapper took over the then 24-year-old Lil Mama.
