Which sports are represented?

The fencing, rowing and trampoline competitions are part of the finals for the first time. The German record middle and long-distance runner Konstanze Klosterhalfen wants to build on her successes at the 2019 finals and run for victory at the German Championships. Olympic silver medalist in discus throw Kristin Pudenz (SC Potsdam) is aiming for her fourth championship title in a row after 2019, 2020 and 2021. “I was able to win my first championship title at the first finals in 2019, so that’s always something special for me,” she said at a press conference on Sunday. In 2021, 3×3 basketball made its debut at the Tokyo Olympics, a faster and more physical version of classic 5v5 basketball. Playing to a goal, each team has 12 seconds to complete an attack – half the attack time in full-court basketball. Where are the competitions held?

The sports facilities are spread across nine locations across the capital. The shot put competitions take place at the Brandenburg Gate. The canoeists and rowers compete on the Spree along the East Side Gallery. A temporary stadium for around 1,800 spectators is to be built on the Olympic square. The competitions in archery and modern pentathlon are held there.

Also on the grounds of the Olympic Park is the cupola hall, where the German Fencing Championships are held. In the nearby Olympic Stadium, track and field athletes compete for the German Championships. The German Gymnastics Federation organizes its competitions in the Max-Schmeling-Halle in the district of Pankow. The swimmers also hold their competitions in Pankow, in the swimming and diving hall in the Europa Sports Park. The competitions in 3×3 basketball and cycling trials take place near Alexanderplatz, at the Neptunbrunnen fountain.

The triathlon will be held at several locations. The triathletes start swimming at the lido in Wannsee. Afterwards the cycling starts there, the route runs through the south-west of Berlin to the Olympic Park. The final running competition starts at the Olympic Square, then runs through the Olympic Park and ends back at the Olympic Square.

Where are tickets available?

Many sporting events are free. The competitions in the sports 3×3 basketball, archery, canoe racing, speed canoe polo, modern pentathlon, cycling trials, rowing and triathlon (except for the age group races) can be attended free of charge.

The indoor decisions and the competitions in the Olympic Stadium are subject to a fee. Tickets are available from the individual associations. All links and information are on the home page found by the organizer.

Who shows the competitions on TV?

The ARD – with the rbb as the leader – together with the ZDF will accompany the German championships on the four days of competition with extensive reporting. In addition to 30 hours of live broadcasts on TV, this also includes a wide range of live streams.
