Title candidate Lions turns out to be too big for Hurry-Up

HANDBALL – Hurry-Up can put the aspirations for the Dutch title on hold for the time being. The Zwartemeerders were not involved in a visit to Lions in Geleen and they lost 36-26. Due to the defeat, Hurry-Up has definitively dropped out in the battle for the national title.

From the first minute it was clear that it would be a difficult evening for Hurry-Up. Lions, which came second in the BENE-League, was more careful with the possibilities and quickly built a margin of 5 points. Hurry-Up didn’t stand a chance in the first half, because Joop Fiege’s team stayed in the wake of the Limburgers. With a halftime score of 17-13 in favor of Lions, the game was not completely lost to Hurry-Up.

It soon became apparent in the second half that a result was not in it for the orange-blacks. Lions quickly ran out and the team from Zwartemeer was behind the times. In the end, Lions increased their lead to 10 points and won 36-26.

With three games to play in the HandbalNL League, Hurry-Up can no longer finish in the top two. Those places entitle you to the play-offs for the national championship. Joop Fiege’s team is now in fifth place, with 3 points from 7 games. Next week, leader Volendam will visit Zwartemeer.
