The British actor David Warner was not only in front of the camera. He could also look back on a long stage career and embodied characters such as Hamlet or Henry VI in the theatre. Now the 80-year-old died in a nursing home.

David Warner spent the last years of his life in Denville Hall, a foster home for people from the entertainment industry. His family announced that he passed away from a cancer-related illness.

“We, his family and friends, will miss him greatly and will remember him as a kind, generous and compassionate man, partner and father whose legacy of extraordinary work has touched the lives of so many over the years,” one said official statement.

Warner played henchman Spicer Lovejoy in James Cameron’s Titanic. Almost 20 years earlier, he was part of the crew of another film about the most famous shipwreck in history: “SOS Titanic” from 1979.
