Tired Alba Berlin loses clearly at the Niners Chemnitz

After the last six wins in a row in the basketball Bundesliga, Alba Berlin has suffered a defeat again.

On Sunday evening, the heavily weakened Berliners lost to the Niners Chemnitz with 64:81 (33:38). Alba remains fifth in the table after the sixth league defeat. Best Berlin throwers were Oscar da Silva with 18 and Jaleen Smith with 14 points.

In addition to the long-term injuries Marcus Eriksson and Louis Olinde, captain Luke Sikma (ill), Tim Schneider (back) and Tamir Blatt (Corona) were also absent. But Johannes Thiemann was back in the game and the only 17-year-old youth player Nils Machowski was in the professional squad for the first time. Nevertheless, Alba got off to a good start and after just under seven minutes was in the double-digit lead (21:10).

But then the Berliners started having problems with the physique of the Chemnitz team. Alba made a lot of ball losses and too many misses against hosts who seemed fresher. The German champions only got twelve points in the second quarter. So Chemnitz took the lead before half-time.

However, Alba came out of the dressing room with momentum and equalized again in the middle of the third quarter to 43:43. But then Berlin conceded a 0:9 run and ran behind again.

At the beginning of the last section, the Berliners fought their way back to three points (59:62), but in the final phase they became more and more tired and the error rate was simply too high in the end.
