TinQ stops price stunt action due to grim conditions | Inland

According to a TinQ spokesperson, aggression among motorists was caused by people pushing ahead and there were incidents in which employees had to swerve for drivers who drove away angrily. On Friday and Sunday, at a total of four gas stations, it would be possible to fill up cheaply for an hour at fuel prices from twenty years ago.

“This hurts us, but there’s no other way,” said the TinQ spokesperson about the cessation of the price action. “Unfortunately, we have had to conclude that several incidents have taken place purely out of emotion. You don’t have to think about getting hit by people. That is not possible, then you have to take responsibility.”

‘Animo many times bigger than expected’

According to TinQ, the enthusiasm for the price stunt was many times greater than expected. The company called in security, extra traffic controllers and employees at the gas stations last week because of the massive traffic and the high emotions among some customers. The number of tank campaigns was also reduced.

According to the gas pump chain, there were no major problems with a similar tank campaign a few years ago, as there were last week. The high fuel prices may play a role in this, the spokesperson said. “But maybe other people will come too. It is always a small minority that ruins it for the majority, unfortunately that is the case for us too.”
