Tina Turner and her husband Erwin Bach have bought a 100-year-old country estate on Lake Zurich. The property serves as a weekend home for the couple and is estimated to be worth 70 million francs (around 67 million euros).
“Because of the pandemic and its consequences, we – like many other Swiss – unfortunately do not travel,” said Bach in an interview with the “Handelzeitung” and added: “With this property we have found a new weekend retreat in the immediate vicinity”. The couple have lived in a rented house just twenty kilometers north of their new home for many years. This is located in Küsnacht, also in the vicinity of Lake Zurich.
When we first met, it was all about the singer
Turner met Bach at an airport in the early 1980s. The director of the record label EMI was supposed to pick her up, but he immediately caught the singer’s eye. “He had the prettiest face, it’s hard to describe. He looked so good. My heart was beating fast and my hands were shaking,” Turner recalls.
The two later saw each other at some record label dinners. One night the singer gathered all her courage and whispered to him: “Erwin, if you come to America, I want you to make love to me”.
Now Turner and Bach have been a couple for almost forty years. However, the love story of the two almost came to an untimely end a few years ago. Because in 2017 Turner almost died of kidney failure. The then 78-year-old had already registered with a Swiss euthanasia organization because her organ performance was only five percent. But Bach donated one of his kidneys to the singer and saved her life.
