Tina Ruland comments on allegations against Til Schweiger

A few weeks ago, the second part of “Manta Manta” celebrated its premiere in Germany. Attacks and bullying by Til Schweiger are said to have occurred on the film set. The actor is said to have shown aggressive and abusive behavior towards his colleagues during the shooting of the film last year, as “Der Spiegel” reported. Some crew members described situations in which he is said to have harassed and insulted employees. In at least one case, according to the report, he is said to have even become violent. In addition, he often appeared drunk on the set.

Now Tina Ruland spoke up. In “Manta Manta – Zwoter Teil” she plays the main role alongside Til Schweiger, just like in the first part from 1991. In an interview with celebrity flash the actress distanced herself from the allegations against her colleague, who also worked as a director for the film. She also criticized the reporting of the case.

“I like him very much as a friend”

“All I can say is I loved the film we did, I really like it as a friend, of course that hasn’t changed,” she said, adding, “Everything I’ve read, what’s there said there was nothing that could be punished.” Commenting on the coverage, she said: “I thought it was a bad witch hunt that went on and it wasn’t just a little over the top, […] it was neat about it.”

However, Ruland also mentioned that there were special conditions on the set – or in the film industry in general – that could lead to certain pressure situations. “So in principle you have to say that our working hours are not like those of other employees. That’s quickly over ten, over twelve hours. Of course there are things that are not okay, but that this happens with all film productions, you might have to take a look at it.”

Til Schweiger rejects allegations

However, Ruland does not address the allegations leveled against Schweiger directly. Til Schweiger himself also rejects any allegations. He said through his attorney that he was “not aware” of the incidents described. In addition, he would be accused of “alleged facts that did not exist”. There have been rumors of this kind for years that are “wrongly presented as actual”. The production company Constantin Film also emphasized that the allegations were “predominantly incomplete and distorting, and in some cases simply wrong”.
