Tina Nijkamp reprimands Angela de Jong. The abacus from Bathmen believes that the AD opinion diva should stop talking about Marco Borsato. “Otherwise the rule of law will fall apart.”

If you call a Chinese a Chinese, Tina Nijkamp will stand on her hind legs, but if Marco Borsato sends dirty messages to an underage girl, we have to turn a blind eye because he has been acquitted of abuse. Angela could ask Tina the same question as she did in Pauw & De Wit: “What if it had been your daughter?”

Still guilty

It seems easier not to answer that question. Tina reprimands Angela for her harsh criticism of Marco’s media comeback in a program by good friend Sergio Herman. “Another column from Angela about Marco. Marco has not been convicted, but according to Angela he is still guilty,” she sneers at her analysis channel.

She continues: “Of course Angela may disagree with the judge’s statements, but if everyone only listened to what ‘feels fair’, the rule of law would fall apart.”

Rehabilitated

Tina even devotes her entire Telegraph column to Angela’s unwanted opinion. She points to her TV appearance in Pauw & De Wit, where she had a discussion with lawyer Anis Boumanjal. Angela thinks Marco is a coward, Anis thinks we should move on. “Angela did not answer the question where she thinks the line is when you can be rehabilitated.”

And Anis did not answer when asked what he would have thought of the issue if the victim had been his own daughter. Tina also seems to find it more important what the judge thinks than what we as a country find morally acceptable. “Marco Borsato has been acquitted. Simply acquitted.”

Final verdict

While people like Wilfred Genee, Mona Keijzer and Maaike Timmerman think that Marco should provide some explanation about those dirty apps, Tina suggests forgetting and forgiving.

“Borsato must do what he needs himself. He is not accountable to anyone. Not even to talk shows, columnists or TV tables that pretend that they can make the real final judgment after the judge.”
