According to ratings authority Tina Nijkamp, it is a shame that Kassa and Radar have been relegated to NPO 2. She argues in a column in The Telegraph for a move back to NPO 1, the main stage of the public broadcaster. “Nobody understood that move, because what’s wrong with no fewer than 1.5 million viewers?”

‘Turn Radar back!’

There was never a good answer, says Tina. “The NPO spokespersons tried very hard to keep giving excuses and that it was because the programs REALLY had viewers who were too old. Huh? Why is the public broadcaster concerned about whether viewers are too old?”

The viewing figures of Kassa and Radar have collapsed considerably due to the relegation. “And all programs that ended up on NPO1 from Radar flopped so badly that programs such as The biohack project even had to be taken off the air prematurely. (…) Away with this nonsense programming! Give Antoinette and Amber their place back.”

Antoinette responds

What does Antoinette think of this plea from Tina? Humberto Tan asked her yesterday in his talk show: “Did you happen to read Tina Nijkamp’s column?”

Antoinette: “Yes, of course I read Tina Nijkamp’s column.”

Humberto: “From your heart, I think?”

Antoinette: “Definitely, definitely. “

‘Nothing’s going to happen’

Humberto: “Do you think something will happen because of that column?”

Antoinette fears the worst. “I have a hard time about it.”

Humberto: “No, huh?”

Antoinette: “No. Radar viewers are considered too old and that is something I think: you should try with the public broadcaster to also broadcast meaningful programs on NPO 1.”

‘Not nothing’

Something beautiful has really been destroyed, Antoinette thinks. “We had 1.5 million or 1.6 million viewers. That’s no small feat. This week we had 850,000 viewers. That’s not bad by NPO 2 standards, but it’s half of it. That hurts.”

She concludes: “We are fans of Tina Nijkamp.”
