Since this Sunday, commuters and other passengers can look forward to a little more comfort and a better offer in regional transport in Berlin and Brandenburg.

In particular in Elbe-Spree network as well as in Lusatia, a lot has happened with the timetable change this Sunday, as the Berlin-Brandenburg transport association emphasizes.

︎ From now on, the Ostdeutsche Eisenbahngesellschaft (Odeg) will be using the new Desiro HC train from Siemens on the RE1 line between Frankfurt (Oder) and Brandenburg an der Havel.

The vehicles have frequency-permeable windows and thus offer better mobile phone reception while driving. According to Odeg, there will be between 630 and 800 seats per journey on line RE1. “In the rush hour, this increases capacity by up to 70 percent,” the company said.

▶︎ The airport express (FEX) to the capital’s airport BER now also continues to Ludwigsfelde as line RB32 and thus better connects the city to the center of Berlin.

︎ In addition to the Elbe-Spree network, the offer in the Lausitz network is also growing – according to the VBB by 15 percent. There is a half-hourly service between Cottbus and Senftenberg (RE13).

▶︎ Bad Liebenwerda and Lauchhammer will be served from shortly after 4 a.m. in the morning and until after 10 p.m. in the evening (RB49).

▶︎ With the lines RE10 and RB43, which have been extended to Frankfurt, there is no need to change trains in Cottbus main station, for example on the journey from Guben to Finsterwalde. In addition, there are more seats on many journeys and, as in the Elbe-Spree network, other services for passengers.
