It could just be that Tim Hofman will soon be having a three-course dinner with John and Linda de Mol. “It will be fun for me. If only there could be a camera with that.”
TV stars love to shower themselves with prizes and another one will be awarded just after the weekend: the Mediaperson of the Year award from trade magazine BM, formerly known as the Broadcaster of the Year. The previous winner André van Duin will hand over the challenge cup to the new winner, but who will it be?
Prick fork
It is very likely that Tim Hofman will take home the prize, writes Angela de Jong in it AD. “What unleashed that one episode of Boos on January 20, and actually in the days before, is unparalleled and continues to this day in all corners of society.”
Angela rejoices when Tim is waving the cup. “The title Mediaperson includes a dinner with all the winners who preceded him. That will be a lot of fun, Tim between John de Mol, Linda de Mol, Matthijs van Nieuwkerk and Frans Klein. If only there could be a camera with that.”
On the spit
The chance that John and Linda join that dinner is very small. They only seem to want to come when Angela appears on the spit.
Moreover, former winner Tina Nijkamp states that Tim is really not the only contender. She thinks that Wilfred Genee will take the prize. “He has made many media hours, achieved resounding viewing figures with VI and, together with Johan and René, ensured that after many years of meager viewing figures, SBS 6 finally scores double-digit market shares again.”
Looking forward to dinner
Özcan Akyol is also a contender, according to Tina, just like RTL’s TV boss Peter van der Vorst. “RTL 4 scores higher than ever, Videoland is a success and RTL 5 has also increasingly acquired its own character after a number of difficult years. RTL 8 shows how you can program a channel with a low budget yet richly. The only problem child is RTL 7.”
She concludes: “One thing is certain: never before have so many former winners been in the news/controversy as last year. Already looking forward to dinner.”
